- "Which products are suitable for Vegetarians?"
- "Which products are suitable for Vegans?"
- “Is the product free from wheat?"
- No. Pastry contains wheat flour.
- “Is the product free from milk, milk products and lactose?”
- All Jus-Rol™ Ingredient Pastry is free from milk, milk products
and lactose EXCEPT for Jus-Rol™ Sweet Dessert, which contains butter
and egg.
- “Is the product free from soya?”
- There is soya in our Sweet Dessert pastry. It is present in the colouring.
Filo, shortcrust and puff are free from soya.
- “What is emulsifier mono and diglycerides of fatty acids.”
- This is an emulsifier present in the margarine. It is of vegetable origin
- “Is the product Kosher certified”
Storage
- "How do I store Jus-Rol™ products?"
- Keep in the freezer at –18°C
- "How long can I keep Jus-Rol in the fridge after it has been defrosted?"
- "Can I refreeze the pastry after I have defrosted it?"
- “Can I use the dough if it is beyond the use by date?”
- No. Use by the ‘Best Before’ date on the packaging
- “Can I freeze the products I make from the dough unbaked?”
- “Can items be frozen after baking for subsequent reheating?”
- Yes, depending on filling. Care must be taken to heat filling thoroughly.
- “I forgot to freeze the dough, is it safe to use”
- No, unless it has been refrigerated for less than 24 hours.
Baking Help
- “How thin should pastry be rolled?”
- Depends of personal preference, 2-3mm is recommended
- "My pastry split when I lifted it to line the dish – what should
I do?”
- Care must be taken when lifting any pastry sheet. With Jus-Rol™
pastry sheets if necessary lift pastry whilst on film and carefully slide
into dish.
- “Can I microwave the pastry”
- Not recommended. For Jus-Rol™ shortcrust and puff pastry sheets
you can use the microwave to assist tempering. See instructions on pack.
- “Pastry cracked or split on baking”
- Could be due to the filling giving off steam during baking. Cut slits
in the pastry to alleviate this problem.
- “My pastry has burnt”
- May be a result of incorrect oven temperature. Suggest check oven with
oven thermometer. Sprinkling sugar on top too early may also cause this.
- “My pastry shrank on baking”
- Some shrinkage is normal. Could also be the result of stretching the
pastry whilst handling.
Appearance
- “There are brown/black tiny specks on the surface of my pastry”
- Brown specks may be seen on the surface of the pastry. These are particles
of bran, which naturally occur in wheat flour.
